CAS No.13641-96-8
2-Isocyanatoethyl acrylate
Karenz AOI
Synonyms:2-Acryloyloxyethyl isocyanate
Merit
- Karenz AOI is a functional monomer that has a high degree of freedom in molecular design and can easily synthesize polymers with isocyanate groups ( oligomers ) or polymers with acrylic groups ( oligomers ).
- The double bond of Karenz AOI is acrylic group and it has higher photocurability than Karenz MOI.
Reactivity
Karenz AOI has higher curability than Karenz MOI.

Fomulations
「AOI-HD」: Urethane acrylate synthesized with Karenz AOI and 1,6-hexanediol
「MOI-HD」: Urethane acrylate synthesized with Karenz MOI and 1,6-hexanediol
「HEA-HDI」: Urethane acrylate synthesized with HEA and HDI
「HEMA-HDI」: Urethane acrylate synthesized with HEMA and HDI
Curing condition
- Initiator : Irg184, 5mol%
- UV exposure : Ultra high pressure mercury lamp,25mW/cm2
Curing method
Dissolve the monomer in a solvent and create a coating film on the PET film with an applicator. After dry with 80℃×0.5hr, UV irradiation.
Result
It evaluated on the time it took for the polymerization rate to reach 50%
UV Curability: 「Karenz AOI」 > 「Existing acrylate」 > 「Karenz MOI」 > 「Existing methacrylate」
